The ports 1# to 5# on the south and north sides of the large skew back of crown the  of the float glass furnace suffered severe erosion. The crown bricks were melted through, and the outer surface of the crown turned red. The lower edge of the crown steel was exposed in the flame zone, posing a serious threat to the overall safety of the crown structure.
